Nestled in the heart of Lincoln, Elleinad Books has quickly become a beloved gathering place for families, caregivers and curious young readers. More than just a bookstore, it’s a community hub built on connection, discovery and the joy of sharing stories.

Owner Danielle Eby shares how this cozy shop came to life, what makes it so special and why it continues to inspire readers of all ages.

How did Elleinad Books get its start?

After years of dreaming about opening a bookstore, I finally decided to take the leap — thanks to the encouragement of family and friends. My vision evolved into a child-focused space after I recognized, as a former stay-at-home mom, the need for stronger community connections among parents, caregivers and kids. That inspired me to create a welcoming, community-centered space.

What makes Elleinad Books unique?

Although we are a bookstore, we are so much more than that. We deeply believe in the power of putting books directly into the hands of children and parents so they can flip through the pages, which can’t be achieved while shopping online. We offer high-quality titles you typically don’t see on the shelves at the big box stores. Customers typically won’t find books with licensed characters at our store for the simple fact that they can be found everywhere — we try to focus on the hidden gems that become timeless. We also host a variety of weekly story times and partner with many different community businesses. 

What products are most popular?

While board books and picture books remain consistent favorites, our middle-grade section has really taken off, especially after we expanded it this past April. Another customer favorite is our puzzle selection. We carry everything from simple 2-piece puzzles to 1,000-piece challenges so everyone can join in.
