Beatrice Police Capt. Gerald Lampkin said he has seen a lot in 31 years of law enforcement, including violent homicides. But he's never been so bothered as he was Friday by photos of a 22-month-old boy who had been duct-taped to a wall, allegedly by his 17-year-old mother and an 18-year-old man.
Grand Island Police Chief Steve Lamken said his officers had a pretty run-of-the-mill Labor Day weekend, despite the thousands of people in town for the Nebraska State Fair. And Lincoln Police Chief Tom Casady's officers -- who dealt with the Husker season opener on Saturday -- saw no shortage of work over the three-day weekend.
