What went right: Derek Schaedig picked up his first win of the season, stopping 21 of the 24 shots he faced from the Musketeers as the Stars built a 4-0 lead after 20 minutes of play. Austen Long opened the Stars' scoring 3:51 into the first period as Paul Cotter, Wyatt Aamodt and Devlin McCabe all added goals throughout the period. McCabe's tally came on the power play. After Sioux City brought the score within 4-3 in the second period, Ashton Calder and Dominick Mersch each scored late third-period goals for the Stars. Long added an assist, while McCabe's goal continues his hot eary start for the Stars, who outshot Sioux City 43-24.
What went wrong: Two five-minute majors from the Stars early in the second period helped the Musketeers get on the scoreboard, as they capitalized three times on the power play. Despite having 38 penalty minutes, Lincoln is 3-0-0 this season when reaching 30-plus penalty minutes.
