What went right: The Lincoln Stars used two quick-strike goals and got help from Paul Cotter in the shootout to pick up four points in the last three games against three of the USHL's top teams. Carter Long scored his first goal of the season 23 seconds into the second period to knot the score 1-1. Casey Dornbach scored his fourth goal in four games and recorded his ninth point in the past five games to give Lincoln a 2-1 lead. Lincoln responded again in the third period, this time 41 seconds into the third period to give the Stars a 3-2 lead after Ashton Calder tapped in a rebound. Three minutes later, Atte Tuliara moved Lincoln to a 4-2 lead before Cotter scored the lone shootout goal.
