The Lincoln Stars open a busy weekend with a game Friday night in Dubuque.
After Friday's 7 p.m. game against the Saints, the Stars host Omaha for the final time this season at 7 p.m. Saturday, then travel to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to face the Stampede at 6 p.m. Sunday.
The Stars have been rolling lately, winning nine of their last 12 games. In their current four-game winning streak, they've averaged five goals per game. The surge has helped Lincoln climb back into the playoff race. The Stars enter the weekend tied with Sioux City at 48 points for the sixth and final playoff berth in the USHL's Western Conference.
Stars goaltender Tomas Vomacka has helped shut down opposing offenses during the hot streak, winning five straight games and nine of his last 11. In two games last week, he stopped 58 of the 61 shots he faced, earning USHL goaltender of the week honors.
This is the second three-game, three-day set of the season for Lincoln. The Stars went 1-2 on Feb. 16-18, splitting two games against Omaha and losing at home to Dubuque in overtime. They'll have another three-game set next weekend, when they'll have a home-and-home series against Des Moines broken up by a visit to Omaha to face the Lancers.
Saturday's game against Omaha is American Outlaws Night and features the last jersey auction of the season. The Stars players will wear soccer-inspired uniforms during the game, which can be bid on after the game. Proceeds will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Lincoln/Lancaster County.
