Friday: Sioux Falls 5, Lincoln 2.

What went wrong: Ethan Phillips got the Stampede started quickly, scoring just 20 seconds into the game. Jami Krannila scored unassisted shortly after that to give Sioux Falls a 2-0 lead with less than seven minutes gone in the game. Krannila and Cade Borchardt each picked up two assists in the second period, feeding Ryan Johnson and Artem Ivanyuzhenkov for goals and a 4-0 Sioux Falls lead. Ryan Sullivan added a short-handed goal in the third. The Stars only managed 18 shots and went 0-for-4 on the power play.

What went right: Jordan Power scored for the Stars late in the second period on an assist from Michael Colella to make the score 4-1. Matthew Barbolini added an unassisted, short-handed goal midway through the third to make the score 5-2, but it wasn't enough on a night when scoring chances were limited.

Up next: The Stars travel to Omaha to face the rival Lancers at 7 p.m. Saturday.
