Saturday: Youngstown 6, Lincoln 3.
What went wrong: Lincoln and Youngstown were tied at 3-3 entering the third period before the host Phantoms finished with a three-goal surge to complete a weekend sweep of the Stars.
Brett Murray broke the tie, and Dalton Messina scored just moments after leaving the penalty box to give Youngstown a 5-3 lead. Murray scored an open-net goal to complete the scoring.
Lincoln was unable to hold on to an early 2-0 lead. Trevor Kuntar and Matt Barnaby scored within 55 seconds of each other to quickly tie the game in the first period.
Youngstown outscored Lincoln 11-5 in the two-game set, and the latest loss dropped the Stars to 10-26-3-2.
The game got extremely chippy in the third period. The Stars and Phantoms combined for 17 penalties in the final period, including seven misconduct penalties.
What went right: The Stars began Saturday's game much better than it did Friday's. Ryan Carmichael picked up his first goal as a Lincoln Star, scoring on a shot through traffic. Tristan Ashbrook pushed the Lincoln lead to 2-0 on a power-play goal, his 10th goal of the season, later in the period.
Ashbrook also scored a goal in the second period.
Up next: Lincoln will host Sioux City at 7 p.m. on Valentine's Day.
