With the No. 1 overall pick Monday in the USHL's Phase I draft, the Lincoln Stars selected Carter Schade, a left defenseman from Mars, Pennsylvania.

Schade, a 5-foot-10 left-handed shot, tallied 15 points (7 goals, 8 assists) in 33 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins' Elite 16 team of the T1EL16 League last season.

"I'm honored and blessed to be drafted by such a great organization. This wouldn't be possible without the Pittsburgh Pens Elite and all of the coaches who have helped me along the way," Schade tweeted after his selection.
