Sunday: Fargo 4, Lincoln 1.
What went wrong: Fargo's Hank Crone capped the game with two goals with just over two minutes left in regulation. They were his 14th and 15th goals of the season. Fargo led 2-1 before Crone scored with 1:13 remaining on Lincoln's empty net, before striking again 26 seconds later. Daniel Russell tied the game in the second period after a Stars defenseman broke his stick on a one-timer attempt at the blue line and Libor Zabransky found Russell leaving the penalty box. It was just Russell's second goal of the season. Tanner Vescio's third goal of the season was the deciding factor, scoring 1 minute, 10 seconds into the third period to break the 1-1 tie. Former Stars netminder Tyler Johnson made his first start for the Force since being traded to Fargo, stopping 29 shots.
What went right: Wyatt Schlaht scored his second goal of the season for Lincoln, putting the Stars up 1-0 early in the first period. Steven Agriogianis and Mason Klee were credited with the assists. Jacob Mucitelli, who split time with Johnson in the Stars net, made 21 saves. Lincoln killed off their only Fargo man-advantage, a too-many men bench minor, in the second period, but went 0-for-3 on the power play.
Up next: The Stars return to the Ice Box to face the Waterloo Blackhawks Friday at 7 p.m.
