What went wrong: The wheels fell off for Lincoln in the bottom of the ninth inning. With the Saltdogs leading 5-1, reliever Jose Ortega replaced Austin Pettibone to start the inning. Ortega issued two walks and hit a batter before being replaced by Jake Hohensee. Hohensee gave up a grand slam to his first batter, Adrian Nieto. Alay Lago then singled and Clint Coulter homered to give the Canaries the comeback victory. In the ninth, Lincoln pitchers faced six batters and gave up six runs without recording an out. ... Lincoln hit into four double plays and left eight runners on base.
What went right: The Saltdogs jumped to an early lead, scoring four runs in the first and tacking on one in the eighth to take a 5-1 advantage. Christian Ibarra hit a leadoff home run in the first, his fourth homer of the season. Cody Regis hit home run No. 6 of the year, a two-run shot in the first. ... The Saltdogs turned three double plays and saw the Canaries leave 11 runners on base.
