Saturday: Lincoln 4, Sioux City 1
What went right: Shairon Martis threw eight solid innings, allowing one run on seven hits and struck out four with no walks. Lincoln took the 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second, led off by Randolph Oduber's 13th double. Oduber scored off of Matty Johnson's single and Cesar Valera hit a two-run single to round out the inning. The Saltdogs picked up one more in the fourth when Joe Robbins hit a solo-home run.
What went wrong: Lincoln left 10 runners on base for the second time in the series. Sioux City's lone run came on an RBI single by LeVon Washington in the fourth inning.
Dog bytes: The Arizona Diamondbacks purchased the contract of Saltdogs left-handed pitcher Cesilio Pimentel. Pimentel was acquired by the Saltdogs in a July 3 trade with Fargo-Moorhead and compiled a 6-3 record with a 3.57 ERA between the two clubs. He was 1-2 with a 3.81 ERA for Lincoln in seven appearances out of the bullpen and four starts. Pimentel is the second Lincoln player to be picked up by an affiliated team this season, following pitcher Brian McAfee. The Saltdogs signed right-handed pitcher Alex Bee to fill Pimentel's spot on the roster.
Next: Lincoln and Sioux City close the four-game series with Sunday's game; first pitch is 2 p.m.
