Saturday: Lincoln 7, Cleburne 1
What went right: The Saltdogs erupted for seven runs and another solid pitching performance from Derek Gordon. Lincoln broke the game open with three runs in the top of the fifth inning and led 3-1 going into the seventh, when the Saltdogs did even more damage.
With the bases loaded, Nathaniel Maggio hit an RBI single. Then Joe Robbins came through with a three-RBI triple for his first professional hit to push Lincoln's lead to 7-1.
On the mound, Gordon (3-2) allowed six hits and one run while striking out two batters. The Lincoln native finished the month of June with a 3.86 ERA and has brought it down to 3.07 with two wins in July.
What went wrong: Despite recording seven runs on 13 hits, the Saltdogs combined to strike out 11 times. Dashenko Ricardo, Matty Johnson and Randolph Oduber each struck out twice.
Streaks: Curt Smith, Christian Ibarra and Cesar Valera have each played in all 47 games this season.
Dog bytes: Gordon has now gone seven innings or more in his last four starts.
