What went wrong: Sioux City scattered its nine runs over six innings, with its multi-run innings coming in the fourth, sixth and eighth. The Explorers racked up 18 hits, including 12 off Dimitri Kourtis in his five innings of work. Daniel Jackson smacked a solo home run. The Saltdogs also walked nine batters in the game and Curt Smith (2) was the only player with more than one hit.
What went right: Smith hit a solo home run in the fourth and Christian Ibarra hit a three-run shot in the eighth to account for Lincoln's scoring. In addition to having his team's only multi-hit outing, Smith reached base three times. After the rough outing by Kourtis, the bullpen allowed two runs in four innings of work.
Streaks: The loss was Lincoln's second in a row.
Dog bytes: Lincoln sits four games ahead of Gary SouthShore and Kansas City in the Central Division.
