Sunday: Cleburne 2, Lincoln 1.
What went wrong: After Lincoln took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, the Railroaders got a leadoff double from Maikol Gonzalez and a one-out double from Axel Johnson in the bottom of the inning to tie it up. Johnson later drove in the winning run with a one-out single in the third. Cleburne had baserunners reach second base in five of Lincoln starter Carlos Pimentel's six innings. Saltdogs batters stranded nine baserunners.
What went right: Despite all the Railroaders on base, Pimentel and two relievers limited Cleburne to just the two runs. Key defensive plays included Joe Robbins throwing out a Railroader at the plate and Brent Dean throwing out a would-be basestealer at second, both in the third inning. The Saltdogs scored first on two-out singles by Cesar Valera, who advanced to second on a wild pitch, and Curt Smith. Smith reached base four times, going 2-for-2 with two walks.
Streaks: Since starting the season 5-0 in seven starts, Pimentel has lost three straight decisions.
Next: The Saltdogs return to Haymarket Park for a three-game series against Salina beginning Tuesday at 6:45 p.m.
