Thursday: Sioux City 9, Lincoln 2

What went wrong: Lincoln allowed nine unanswered runs, including six runs in the first three innings. Nick Tepesch's went five innings, but his outing saw 13 hits, eight earned runs, two wild pitches and three walks. The Saltdogs staff also allowed seven extra-base hits. 

Offensively, the Saltdogs left eight runners on base and managed just four hits.

What went right: Lincoln started off the game with a 2-0 lead. Two walks, a single and a sacrifice fly pushed two runs across the plate in the first inning. Curt Smith picked up his 15th RBI and Cody Regis got his 24th.

The bullpen of Jake Hohensee, Austin Boyle and Cameron McVey allowed just two hits, one run, one walk and struck out four batters in its combined three innings. The three Lincoln pitchers threw 28 strikes over their 40 total pitches.

What's next: Lincoln travels to Sioux Falls for a three-game series. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. on Friday.
