A pair of the UFC's top lightweight fighters will highlight the Aug. 25 card at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship announced Wednesday night that Justin Gaethje, the No. 7 contender for the UFC lightweight title, and Al Iaquinta, ranked 10th, will meet at UFC Fight Night.
It will mark the UFC's first show in Lincoln.
Gaethje, a 29-year-old from Stafford, Arizona, is 18-2, and all three of his UFC fights have been awarded fight of the night.
Iaquinta, a 31-year-old from Wantagh, New York, is 13-4-1 in his professional career. He's won eight of his last 10 fights, and his most-recent bout was in April, when he took a title fight against lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov on one day's notice. Nurmagomedov won by unanimous decision.
Four other fights for the card were announced: Andrew Sanchez and Antonio Braga Neto will meet in a middleweight bout; Rani Yahya and Luke Sanders will meet in a bantamweight bout; Drew Dober and Jon Tuck will meet in a lightweight bout; and Eryk Anders — a former Alabama linebacker — and Tim Williams will clash in a middleweight fight.
Tickets for the Lincoln event will go on sale June 29, and be purchased at the PBA Ticket Office, online at ticketmaster.com or by phone (1-866-448-7849).
