Bill Amundsen opened up a one-shot lead on a pair of golfers after the first round of stroke play qualifying for the Nebraska Match Play Championship Monday at The Players Club in Omaha.

Playing on his home course, Amundsen’s morning round of 3-under 68 held up throughout the day. He leads Husker golfer Tanner Owen and former Hartington Cedar Catholic standout and current South Dakota State golfer Matthew Schaefer by one shot.

The 97-player field will wrap up stroke-play qualifying Tuesday, with the top 32 finishers advancing to the match-play bracket.

First- and second-round matches will be played Wednesday, with quarterfinals and semifinals set for Thursday and the 36-hole final scheduled for Friday.
