Doane more than doubled Friends' total yardage and held an even bigger advantage on the scoreboard, rolling to a 57-3 win in its football season opener Saturday in Wichita, Kansas.

Doane had 23 first downs and 364 total yards, 206 of that from the arm of Jack Kalina, who completed 17 of 33 passes and three touchdowns.

Jacob Beller caught two of those touchdown passes.

Doane limited Friends to 177 yards of offense and nine first downs.

The Tigers rolled to a 38-0 lead.

Hastings 25, Peru State 21: The Broncos roared back from a 21-0 halftime deficit to win in Hastings. After a field goal early in the second half, Hastings scored a pair of touchdowns, the second a 5-yard run by Tyree Nesmith, and the Broncos were in business. Hastings' Tahj Willingham rushed for 128 yards and a touchdown.

Midland 49, Mid-America Nazarene 28: The Midland defense allowed just seven points in the second half in Fremont. Peyton Nelson threw for 262 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for 99 yards. Jordan Jackson had two of those TD receptions.

Morningside 49, William Penn 21: Niles Connor had 190 receiving yards and two touchdowns while Arnijae Ponder rushed for 155 yards and two scores for Morningside.

Briar Cliff 40, Waldorf 13: Briar Cliff's defense posted a shutout in the first half.

Jamestown 28, Valley City State 26: Louis Quinones scored a 4-yard rushing touchdown with 43 seconds left to pull Valley City State with two points, but couldn't make the two-point conversion.
