Hastings scored six minutes into extra time to fend off West Virginia Tech 2-1 on Wednesday in the NAIA Men's Soccer Tournament quarterfinals in Delray Beach, Florida.
Adam Knight drove down the left side of the pitch, eluding defenders, and sent the ball into the box. Knight's initial attempt was deflected, but the ball found its way past West Virginia Tech's goalkeeper and into the net.
Knight's goal sends Hastings (22-0-1) to the semifinals for the first time since 2011. Hastings finished second that year after winning it all in 2010 with a 25-0 record.
The Golden Bears scored in the 32nd minute to take a 1-0 lead, but Hastings responded five minutes into the second half on a penalty kick by Brayant Toro.
"It's the same message. Calm down, stay patient and let it happen," coach Aaron Champenoy said when asked about his message at halftime. "We knew we had a goal in us, but we just needed to keep pressing and the goal would come."
The No. 1 Broncos will face Grand View in Friday's semifinals at 3 p.m.
