Doane's Marissa DeWispelare repeated as Great Plains Athletic Conference cross country champion, winning Saturday's race at Elks Country Club in Hastings by 12 seconds over Morningside's Michelle Mumm.
The Tigers senior and Aquinas graduate, who was the individual champion last year, won in 17 minutes, 38.4 seconds to help Doane to a fourth-place team finish. DeWispelare is the first repeat women's winner since former Nebraska Wesleyan runner Brittany Hubbard went back to back in 2005-06.
Mumm's runner-up finish carried Morningside to the team title, its first in school history. Concordia's Emily Sievert was ninth as the Bulldogs were sixth as a team.
On the men's side, Northwestern put its five runners in the top 11 spots to claim the team title. Northwestern's Will Norris was the medalist, winning by over 30 seconds in 24:38.18. Doane's Eric Weers was 14th to lead the Tigers to fifth.
Three UNK runners advance
Nebraska-Kearney qualified three for the NCAA Division II Championships during Saturday's NCAA Central Regional in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Morgan Benesch qualified on the women's side, while Jahn Landrigan and Andrew Fields were the Loper men to qualify.
Benesch, an All-American last year, finished sixth while Fields was 10th and Landrigan 13th on the men's side.
