With a combined 31 shots the Concordia Bulldogs and Hastings Broncos women's soccer teams were unable to find the back of the net in regulation Friday in the GPAC championship in Seward.
Salley Stoltenberg led the Broncos with five shots, while Esther Soenksen had seven for the Bulldogs, but it was Hastings that prevailed 3-2 in penalty kicks. Despite the loss, Concordia will still head to the NAIA Tournament after winning the GPAC regular-season title, while the Broncos qualify thanks to the tournament crown.
Maria Deeter and Sami Birmingham each made penalty kicks for the Bulldogs, but Concordia failed to make its next three shots. Soenksen had a chance to tie the shootout, but was unable to beat Broncos' goaltender Lindsey Carley.
