The Hastings men's soccer team battled to a 2-2 tie before defeating Marymount California 5-4 in penalty kicks in the second round of the NAIA Tournament at Delray Beach, Florida.
Freshman Brayant Toro fooled the Mariners' keeper, giving the Broncos the victory after all five Hastings players scored on penalty kicks.
After Marymount opened with a goal in the shootout, Daniel Whitehall answered for Hastings. Tor Trosten scored for the Broncos after a Mariner goal.
After Marymount missed high over the bar, Marc Tautz gave Hastings a 3-2 advantage. The Mariners later tied it 4-4, with Toro waiting as the final shooter.
In regulation, Daniel Linstead gave the Broncos a 1-0 lead just nine minutes into the match, but Marymount answered in the 19th minute to tie the score.

Tautz, who assisted on the opening goal, put Hastings back out front in the 65th minute, picking up a Whitehall rebound.
The Mariners answered, however, knotting the score 2-2 in the 84th minute on a set piece. Neither team found the back of the net in both overtime periods.
Hastings takes on West Virginia Tech on Wednesday at 10 a.m.
Midland faces Davenport on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
