Try 3 months for $3
UWW Freestyle World Cup, 4/7/18

The USA's Jordan Burroughs (left) wrestles India's Vinod Kumar Omprakash during a 163-pound match in April during the Freestyle World Cup at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City, Iowa.

Mark Manning wants Jordan Burroughs and James Green to be sent off in style.

Based on their achievements on the mat, that shouldn't be a problem.

Burroughs and Green, a pair of former Nebraska wrestling greats, will be on hand for a send-off party Friday in advance of their trip to Budapest, Hungary, for the World Championships later this month. The celebration is set for 6 p.m. at The Mill Coffee & Bistro on Innovation Campus near the Devaney Sports Center.

Manning, the Husker wrestling coach, said there will be food, T-shirts for sale and an auction.

Burroughs is a four-time world champion (2011, ’13, ’15 and ’17) and, of course, an Olympic champion in 2012.

Green won the silver medal at the World Championships in 2017 after capturing the bronze in 2015.

In addition to the send-off party, the public can watch Burroughs and Green train at 4 p.m. Friday at the Hendricks Training Complex.

The World Championships are set for Oct. 20-28 in Budapest.

"This stuff is big for our program," Manning said, "and for the university."
