Nebraska women’s basketball coach Amy Williams made the long trip to Australia to visit a recruit this spring, and a few months later she got the reward when 6-foot-2 Australian forward Isabelle Bourne committed to the Huskers. She’ll be part of the Huskers’ 2019 recruiting class.

Bourne made her announcement on social media, saying that she is looking forward to being part of the Husker family. She was on the team that won the gold medal at the FIVB under-17 Oceania championship.

Kelsey Griffin, a former Husker who plays professional in Australia, was supportive of Bourne’s commitment in a post on social media.

“I’ve been able to train with Issie and she’s talented, works hard, but above all else is a great person,” Griffin wrote.
