Volleyball Nations League 2019

Former Nebraska volleyball player Mikaela Foecke (bottom left) and the U.S. women’s national team started the FIVB Volleyball Nations League tournament on Tuesday in Ruse, Bulgaria.

Purdue graduate Annie Drews scored a match-high 22 points in leading the United States women’s national team to a 23-25, 25-16, 25-15, 25-21 victory against Serbia on Tuesday in Conegliano, Italy, to remain undefeated in FIVB Volleyball Nations League competition.

The U.S., now 4-0 in the VNL, plays again on Wednesday against host Italy. Serbia, the reigning FIVB World Champions and ranked No. 1 in the world, is now 2-2 after the first four matches.

None of the three former Huskers on the Team USA roster for the six-week tournament — Jordan Larson, Kelsey Robinson and Mikaela Foecke — are on the active roster this week, but should be when the tournament comes to Lincoln for three matches next week.
