The Nebraska volleyball team moved up two spots to No. 6 in the AVCA poll on Monday.
The move up came as a result of the Huskers’ five-set win against then-No. 7 Penn State last week. Nebraska’s record is 18-6, and the Huskers are tied for fifth place in the Big Ten Conference with a 9-5 league record.
Penn State is now one spot behind the Huskers in the poll at No. 7, and five of the top eight teams are from the Big Ten Conference.
BYU is still undefeated and ranked No. 1. Creighton (22-4) is No. 9.
This week, Nebraska travels to Iowa on Wednesday, and No. 15 Michigan on Saturday.
Also on Monday, Nebraska sophomore middle blocker Lauren Stivrins was named the Big Ten Conference defensive player of the week.
She had a career-high 10 blocks in a five-set win against Penn State and followed that with eight blocks in a sweep of Rutgers. Stivrins helped the Huskers hold Penn State to a season-low .114 hitting percentage.
