The Nebraska beach volleyball team dropped two matches on Friday at the Belmont Shore Challenge in Long Beach, California. The Huskers fell 3-2 to Colorado Mesa and 4-1 to No. 9 Long Beach State.

Nicklin Hames and Lauren Stivrins earned a 22-20, 21-11 win for Nebraska in the No. 1 spot against Colorado Mesa. Madi Kubik and Mari Kurkova were dominant in a 21-8, 21-9 win at No. 3.

The Huskers came up just short in three sets at No. 2 and No. 4. Kenzie Knuckles and Jazz Sweet won their second set 21-19 but fell 12-15 in set three. At No. 4, Hayley Densberger and Anezka Szabo took set one 21-17, but dropped set two and then the final set 12-15.

In the other match against the ninth-ranked 49ers, Densberger and Szabo secured the one point for Nebraska with a 19-21, 21-18, 18-16 comeback win. The other four Husker pairs dropped their matches in straight sets.

Nebraska concludes the Belmont Shore Challenge and the beach volleyball season with matches against No. 14 Stanford at 11 a.m. and Washington at noon on Saturday.
