A return to the Big Ten Tournament for the Nebraska soccer team also meant a fair amount of postseason recognition from the conference coaches.
Senior forward Jaycie Johnson was named first-team All-Big Ten, headlining six Huskers who earned postseason honors Friday.
Seniors Caroline Flynn and Sydney Miramontez were both second team selections, and junior Haley Hanson was third team. Those four players have have accounted for 20 of the Huskers' 25 goals this season, with Johnson’s 11 goals leading the team.
Two Huskers, forward Meg Brandt and defender Sinclaire Miramontez, were named to the all-freshman team. Brandt has 16 starts, with two goals and three assists, while Miramontez has paired with her older sister on the Nebraska backline to start all 19 games, with nearly 1,800 game minutes. NU junior Amanda McClanahan was named the team's sportsmanship award recipient.
The six all-conference honorees are the most for Nebraska since it joined the Big Ten, and the most in a season since 2000 (eight).
