Scouting: Senior guard Ryan Bruggeman is one of the top players in Division II, ranking in the top 20 nationally in scoring (23.2, 13th) and assists (6.1, 19th) per game. He's scored 30 or more points four times and broke Southwest Minnesota's career scoring record earlier this season.

Trending: A victory would give Nebraska just its fourth one-loss nonconference campaign since World War II. The Huskers went 11-1 in 1977-78 (finished 22-8), 12-1 in 1992-93 (finished 20-11) and 10-1 in 2003-04 (finished 18-13).

Forecasting: This game should — should — allow Nebraska the chance to rest its regulars and get ready for league play. NU will leave for Maryland on New Year's Eve. But don't forget four years ago, when Southwest Minnesota State led the Huskers 34-30 at halftime of a season-opening exhibition game. The times and teams are different, but it would do NU some good to put this game to bed early.
