Tai Webster

New Zealand's Tai Webster (left) drives the ball under the pressure of Macedonia's Vlado Llievski during an Olympic qualifier basketball game in Caracas, Venezuela, last year.

Here's another sign that times are changing for Nebraska basketball:

The NCAA approves of the status of an incoming player.

Two sources confirmed Tuesday that guard Tai Webster, a highly-touted recruit from New Zealand, has been academically cleared by the NCAA. Webster had already been admitted to Nebraska and has been in classes and participating in team and individual workouts since he arrived in Lincoln on July 13.

Nebraska is expected to make an official announcement later Tuesday afternoon. Tim Miles hasn't yet commented publicly but tweeted a picture of a smiling Webster and tweeted: "I know why this guy is smiling!!"

Webster later sent a tweet out himself, saying: "NCAA eligible ....soooooolid!"

So no more worrying about the TOEFL, or about how many teammates were paid when player in concern wasn't, or about who was enrolled correctly.

It's a new day for Nebraska basketball.
