Mike Riley will finish the 2017 season as Nebraska's head coach.
Husker athletic director Bill Moos told ESPN that much on Monday.
"It's not like I've got a coach to hire this afternoon at 3:30," Moos told Mitch Sherman. "Mike Riley deserves to finish the 2017 season. That's how I operate."
Since his introductory press conference, Moos has said and reiterated that his policy is not to fire coaches midseason.
That stance, though, seemed to be put to the test when NU lost by 33 points Saturday to a Minnesota team in its first year under head coach P.J. Fleck that entered the game 1-5 in the Big Ten.
"I applaud this fan base "because they've been patient and they haven't had the product -- at least from my observation in the short time I've been here -- that I feel that they deserve," Moos said. "It's why we're taking a real hard look at this and one of the reasons I am out to hear their disgruntled thoughts on the state of the program."
