Nebraska football coach Bo Pelini appears to be tightening screws as the season-opener nears.
E-mails were sent to former Husker players this week saying, "Effective (immediately), Nebraska football is closing practice indefinitely. Thank you for understanding. We hope to see you this fall."
The e-mail was signed by an athletic department official, according to one ex-Husker player.

Two other former players said they hadn't received such an e-mail.
As a long-standing policy at Nebraska -- a policy established before Pelini took over as head coach -- media are generally barred from watching football practices, except for occasional opportunities. Former players and family members, among others, have been allowed to attend.
Nebraska opens the season Aug. 31 against Wyoming in Lincoln.
