Riley Kinney played quarterback in high school, but he'll be moving positions once he gets to college. 

That's likely just fine with him, since the Loveland, Colorado, athlete is going to play at Nebraska. 

The 6-foot-4, 190-pounder announced his verbal commitment to the program as a walk-on Saturday evening and said he would be joining NU as an athlete/wide receiver. 

Kinney helped Class 4A Loveland High to a state championship as a senior and now will join a big -- and continually growing Husker walk-on group that also includes his teammate Zach Weinmaster. 

Kinney knows something about Nebraska football, too. His grandfather, Jeff, was a running back for the Huskers under Bob Devaney in the 1970s and was on the 1971 national championship team. Jeff was then a 1972 first-round NFL Draft pick. 

Riley Kinney is the 17th known member of Nebraska's 2019 walk-on class.
