Nebraska's Burger Lambrechts placed 14th in the men's shot put with a throw of 62 feet, ½ inch Wednesday at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Austin, Texas.

Lambrechts scratched on his first two attempts.

NU's George Kusche just missed qualifying for the finals of the men's 1,500-meter run. He was timed in 3 minutes, 46.87 seconds, missing advancing by 0.14 of a second. He finished sixth in his heat.

Nebraska's Luke Siedhoff failed to advance in the men's 110 high hurdles, finishing fifth in his heat, and 15th overall, with a time of :13.86. 

Eleven Huskers will compete during the second day, including Lincoln Northeast graduate Chase Wolinski, who will take part in the women's javelin finals.
