The Husker track and field teams picked up two third-place finishes in the hammer throw in their first outdoor competition Friday at the Herm Wilson Invitational in Wichita, Kansas.
Hammer throwers Anna Purchase for the women (190 feet, 11 inches) and James Joycey for the men (195-4) each took third in Friday's only field event.
On the track, Sadio Fenner was second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9 minutes, 39.75 seconds. In the 1,500, Elsa Forsberg was third (4:34.07) for the women and Ty Moss fourth (4:02.50) for the men. In the men's 5,000, Myles Fleming (15:23.15) and Alex Tollinger (15:54.53) finished second and third, respectively.
The meet continues Saturday.
