Elkhorn South vs. Lincoln North Star, 9/7/18

Lincoln North Star running back Luke Reimer drives toward the end zone on Sept. 7 against Elkhorn South at Seacrest Field.

Luke Reimer just couldn’t pass up the chance to play football at Nebraska.

The Lincoln North Star athlete announced Friday night that he will walk on with the Huskers rather than play on scholarship at FCS South Dakota State.

Reimer, whom the NU staff liked in his two seasons at North Star, called the decision, “one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make,” in announcing the move on Twitter.

“But it’s been a dream of mine to play on the biggest stage for as long as I can remember,” he continued. “Nebraska has given me the opportunity to do just that. I can see where Nebraska is heading and I want to be a part of that.”
