A large-scale effort to add another promising wide receiver to its 2023 recruiting class has paid off for Nebraska.
Days after taking an official visit to the school, Nashville (Tenn.) McGavock wide receiver Demitrius Bell announced his commitment to Nebraska on Tuesday.
Matt Rhule and his coaching staff identified Bell as a top 2023 prospect early in their recruiting cycle, offering him a scholarship on Dec. 9. A former Michigan State commit, Bell also had interest from Kentucky and an impressive offer list that included SEC powerhouses Alabama and Georgia.

However, Nebraska’s late push paid off as Rhule, offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield and defensive backs coach Evan Cooper all took part in an in-home visit with Bell on Jan. 16.
Bell totaled 94 catches for 1,200 yards and 15 touchdowns in his last two varsity seasons, in addition to work as a running back and safety. A 6-foot-1, 175-pound prospect, Bell is a three-star recruit who seems to project best as a potential slot receiver in college. Crisp route-running and dependable hands are among Bell’s top attributes, and he’s not lacking in speed or agility, either.
