Akron vs. Nebraska, college football, 9.1.18

Husker fans take cover as a severe thunderstorm rolls through Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018. The game between Nebraska and Akron was eventually canceled.

Nebraska will finish October with an early kickoff against an FCS opponent.

The Huskers kick off against Bethune-Cookman at 11 a.m. on Oct. 27 at Memorial Stadium, the school announced Monday morning. The game is set to be broadcast on the Big Ten Network.

This, of course, was not the initial plan for NU — Oct. 27 was initially the Huskers' open date — but then Sept. 1's game against Akron was canceled due to lightning and not rescheduled. That forced the Huskers to search high and low for a make-up date and the Wildcats quickly surfaced.

That game follows Saturday's home contest against Minnesota, which kicks at 2:30 p.m. on BTN.

A reminder: Ticket-holders from the scuttled game against Akron will be reissued tickets for Bethune-Cookman.

Kickoff times for Nebraska's first three games of November — Nov. 3 at No. 2 Ohio State, Nov. 10 vs. Illinois and Nov. 17 vs. No. 24 Michigan State — remain TBA before an 11 a.m. Black Friday road game at No. 19 Iowa to close the season.
