Mike Riley made official Wednesday the hiring of four new full-time assistant coaches, joining the four who were added to his staff in mid-December.
The names of the latest additions had already been reported, but the NU coach confirmed them and clarified their positions, announcing the hiring of offensive coordinator Danny Langsdorf, running backs coach Reggie Davis, defensive line coach Hank Hughes and secondary coach Charlton Warren, the lone known holdover from Bo Pelini's staff.
Riley announced Dec. 11 the hiring of four assistant coaches — defensive coordinator Mark Banker, linebackers coach Trent Bray, offensive line coach Mike Cavanaugh and special-teams coordinator Bruce Read.
Hughes, a 36-year coaching veteran, had been reported as a co-defensive coordinator, but according to Riley's news release, that title is reserved only for Banker.
Riley has not yet announced one of his full-time assistants, who will presumably coach wide receivers. The eight other assistants will be introduced at a news conference Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
Including Riley, Nebraska’s staff has a combined 216 years of coaching experience, while boasting a combined 56 bowl game appearances and 38 years coaching in the pro ranks.
“We are thrilled with the staff we have assembled at the University of Nebraska,” Riley said in a statement. “This is a successful group of outstanding teachers, coaches and recruiters, and I know they will represent our school and program very well.”
Riley also officially announced his strength coach, Mark Philipp, and his associate athletic director for operations, Dave Van de Riet.
He also listed support staff members and various football interns:
Hilary O’Bryan, assistant director of football operations
Ryan Gunderson, director of player personnel
