The first inning couldn't have gone better for Nebraska, as Jaxon Hallmark and Cam Chick laced back-to-back singles to start the game. Palensky then loaded up on a fastball down the middle for the deep fly to left field.
Matt Waldron escaped a jam in the top of the first. The NU starter loaded the bases with just one out in the inning, but managed to strike out one and force a fly out to end the inning.
