With help from a softball rival, the Millard South's seventh annual 'Feed the Dogs' scrimmage had its best year yet.
The Patriots raised around 2,650 pounds in dog food and supplies at their scrimmage Saturday.
Lincoln Southwest helped with the cause at its own scrimmage, raising 750 pounds Saturday, bringing the total to 3,400 pounds and making it the largest donation from the 'Feed the Dogs' event.
Awesome day supporting the @MSPatriotsSB 7th Annual Feed The Dogs project for the @NEHumaneSociety! Thanks to all of the @LSW_Softball families & friends that contributed over 720 lbs of food to the incredible bounty @MSPatriotsSB collects annually! @LJSSportsGrell #teamwork pic.twitter.com/CNyCmy3smw— Ted Kauf (@tjk0205) August 11, 2018
The food and supplies were then donated to the Nebraska Humane Society.
Our 7th Annual "Feed the Dogs" Scrimmage allowed us to donate 3,400 lbs of dog food today to @NEHumaneSociety. Our largest single donation was greatly benefited by @LSW_Softball , who brought us 750 lbs from their own scrimmage. That brings our seven year total to 8,750 pounds! pic.twitter.com/Z1SngYMf50— MS Patriots Softball (@MSPatriotsSB) August 11, 2018
The annual event has raised 8,750 pounds in seven years.
On Saturday, the two teams fed the dogs. On Thursday, they'll play ball. The high school softball season starts that day.
