Lincoln Southwest opened the Monarch Invitational with two wins Friday in La Vista, defeating Millard North 8-2 and No. 9 Bellevue East 4-0.
The wins set up a big final day in the softball tournament. The championship pool will feature No. 1 Papillion-La Vista, No. 2 Southwest and No. 3 Millard West beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Southwest's Emma Kauf clubbed two homers in the Silver Hawks' win against Bellevue East, while Brin Swanson limited the Chieftains to four hits over five innings.
Abbie Squier doubled, homered and finished with four RBIs in the Hawks' win against Millard North.
Lincoln Southeast opened with a 13-4 loss to Class B No. 5 Waverly, but bounced back to beat Omaha Central 16-0. The Knights' top three hitters — Sidney Doty, Estrella Uribe and Rylan Ewoldt — combined for seven hits, five RBIs and seven runs scored.
Papillion-La Vista beat Waverly 5-1 to reach the championship pool.
Omaha Westside Invitational: Class A No. 6 Lincoln North Star got the bats going early against No. 7 Grand Island, scoring six runs in the first and three in the second en route to a 12-7 win against the Islanders. The win sends North Star to Saturday's championship game.
Caitlyn McGarvie, Addison Barrow and Abby Krieser each drove in two runs.
The Navigators opened the day with a 7-0 win against Lincoln Northeast. Junior Hanna Roth threw a five-inning no-hitter, striking out seven.
North Star will play fourth-ranked Millard South at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Norfolk Invitational: Lincoln North Star's Liem Chot won the boys race in 17 minutes, 16 seconds, leading the Navigators to a third-place finish in the team standings. Teammate Grant Wasserman was 10th.
Millard West took the team crowns for the boys (45 points) and girls (26 points).
Jaden Hilkemann of Lincoln North Star took fourth place in the girls race.
