Crete’s Hannah Newton (3) drives to the basket against Seward’s Bailee Baack (23) in the second half on Tuesday at Crete High School.

Records through Saturday

CLASS A

Team (Rec.) | Pvs

1. Papillion-La Vista (15-1) | 1

2. Omaha Westside (13-3) | 2

3. Millard North (10-3) | 3

4. Millard South (11-2) | 4

5. Lincoln Pius X (11-3) | 5

6. Fremont (11-3) | 7

7. Omaha Benson (11-2) | 10

8. Omaha Northwest (10-6) | 8

9. Lincoln Northeast (9-4) | -

10. Lincoln Southwest (13-3) | 6

Contenders: Lincoln East, Millard West.

Comments: Lincoln Northeast followed a near-upset of top-ranked Papillion-La Vista with a 23-point win at Lincoln Southwest and enters at No. 9. Omaha Benson has won 11 of 12 games, the only loss in that stretch coming against Omaha Westside in the Metro Tournament. Fremont and Lincoln Southwest will meet for the Heartland Athletic Conference Tournament championship on Tuesday (LSW won the regular-season meeting), while a big weekend awaits ratings contender Lincoln East.

Key games: Tuesday—Fremont at Lincoln Southwest, Millard South at South Sioux City, Omaha Skutt at Lincoln Pius X; Thursday—Lincoln Southwest at Omaha Westside; Friday—Lincoln East a Papillion-La Vista; Saturday—Millard South at Lincoln East.

CLASS B

Team (Rec.) | Pvs

1. Waverly (13-0) | 1

2. South Sioux City (12-5) | 6

3. Crete (10-4) | 7

4. Seward (10-3) | 2

5. Northwest (11-4) | 5

6. Omaha Skutt (12-5) | 3

7. Elkhorn South (5-11) | 8

8. Elkhorn (9-4) | 9

9. Norris (7-6) | 4

10. Sidney (14-2) | 10

Contenders: Bennington, North Platte, Platteview.

Comments: South Sioux City and Crete make the biggest moves. South Sioux City, which has most of its starting lineup back — senior forward Taryn Christensen will remain out with an ACL injury — showed what it's capable of with an impressive run through the River Cities Conference Tournament, including avenging an earlier loss to Omaha Skutt. Crete leaps to third after an eight-point win against Seward. Norris tumbles after a loss at Bennington.

Key games: Monday-Saturday—Central Conference Tournament (Crete, Seward, Northwest); Tuesday-Friday—Eastern Midlands Conference Tournament (Waverly, Elkhorn, Norris, Bennington); Tuesday—Omaha Skutt at Lincoln Pius X, Millard South at South Sioux City; Friday—Elkhorn South at Millard West; Saturday—Omaha Skutt at Louisville.

CLASS C-1

Team (Rec.) | Pvs.

1. Wahoo (16-0) | 1

2. Bishop Neumann (14-2) | 2

3. Aquinas (12-2) | 4

4. Mitchell (15-1) | 5

5. Grand Island CC (14-2) | 6

6. West Point-Beemer (14-1) | 7

7. Louisville (13-2) | 3

8. Milford (13-3) | -

9. Lincoln Christian (9-6) | 8

10. North Bend Central (10-6) | -

Contenders: Adams Central, Arlington, Auburn, Columbus Lakeview, Malcolm, Ogallala, Syracuse.

Comments: Milford re-enters after its win against then-No. 10 Columbus Lakeview, and North Bend Central gets the edge at No. 10 over Adams Central because of its win against C-2 state contender Oakland-Craig. Louisville drops after a loss to Yutan. The Centennial Conference Tournament — which features six rated teams between C-1, C-2 and D-1 — could have a big impact on the ratings after this week.

Key games: Monday-Saturday—Centennial Conference Tournament (Bishop Neumann, Aquinas, GICC, Lincoln Christian, Columbus Scotus, Kearney Catholic); Tuesday-Saturday—Nebraska Capitol Conference Tournament (Wahoo, Arlington, Syracuse); Tuesday—Louisville at Auburn; Friday-Feb. 2—East Husker Conference Tournament (North Bend Central, West Point-Beemer); Saturday—Omaha Skutt at Louisville.

CLASS C-2

Team (Rec.) | Pvs.

1. Hastings SC (14-1) | 1

2. Fillmore Central (13-3) | 3

3. Oakland-Craig (15-1) | 2

4. Crofton (12-3) | 4

5. Superior (13-2) | 5

6. Ponca (14-2) | 6

7. Clarkson/Leigh (12-2) | 7

8. Blue Hill (10-3) | 8

9. Yutan (12-3) | -

10. Lourdes CC (12-3) | -

Contenders: BRLD, Centennial, Elm Creek, Guardian Angels CC, Hartington CC, Stanton, Wood River.

Comments: Fillmore Central continues to put together an impressive month, and the latest win came on the road at C-1 Lincoln Christian. Oakland-Craig drops one spot after losing to C-1 North Bend Central. The Knights have Kennedy Benne, an all-stater last year, back after recovering from an ACL injury. Benne and Dacey Nelson combine to form maybe the best duo in Class C-2. Yutan enters at No. 9 after a win against then-C-1 No. 3 Louisville marked a sixth straight win. Lourdes Central Catholic enters after a win against a potent Weeping Water squad.

Key games: Monday-Saturday—Centennial Conference Tournament (Hastings SC); Tuesday—Fillmore Central at Centennial, Ponca at Hartington CC, Sterling at Lourdes CC, Oakland-Craig at Humphrey/LHF; Thursday—Yutan at Weeping Water; Saturday-Feb. 2—Twin Valley Conference Tournament (Blue Hill), Mid State Conference Tournament (Crofton, Guardian Angels CC, Hartington CC).

CLASS D-1

Team (Rec.) | Pvs.

1. North Platte St. Pat's (16-0) | 1

2. Pleasanton (16-1) | 2

3. Humphrey/LHF (14-1) | 3

4. Archbishop Bergan (11-4) | 4

9. Elkhorn Valley (13-2) | 9

10. Lawrence-Nelson (14-1) | 10

Contenders: Central Valley, Elgin/PJ, Hartington-Newcastle, Johnson-Brock.

Comments: Every top-10 team stays in place this week. The only team to drop a game was Weeping Water, which is not penalized for a defeat against Class C-2 Lourdes Central Catholic.

Key games: Monday-Saturday—Centennial Conference Tournament (Archbishop Bergan), Republican Plains Conference Tournament (Cambridge, Dundy Co.-Stratton, Hitchcock County); Tuesday—Oakland-Craig at Humphrey/LHF, Lawrence-Nelson at Blue Hills, North Central at Ewing; Thursday—Elgin/PJ at Humphrey/LHF, Yutan at Weeping Water; Saturday-Feb. 2—Niobrara Valley Conference Tournament (Elgin/PJ, Elkhorn Valley, North Central).

CLASS D-2

Team (Rec.) | Pvs.

1. Humphrey SF (14-3) | 1

2. CWC (13-3) | 2

3. Sterling (14-3) | 3

4. Falls City SH (14-3) | 4

5. Ewing (13-2) | 6

7. Wynot (11-3) | 7

7. BDS (11-4) | 8

8. Exeter-Milligan (14-3) | 5

9. Mullen (12-2) | 9

10. South Platte (13-0) | 10

Contenders: Kenesaw, Loomis, Maywood-Hayes Center, Sandhills/Thedford, Silver Lake.

Comments: BDS beat Exeter-Milligan by nine, which triggers the only movement in this week's ratings. The Eagles and Timberwolves could see each other again this week in the Crossroads Conference Tournament.

Key games: Monday-Friday—Crossroads Conference Tournament (BDS, Exeter-Milligan); Monday-Saturday—MNAC Tournament (Mullen, Sandhills/Thedford); Tuesday—Sterling at Lourdes CC, North Central at Ewing; Thursday—Wynot at Ponca; Saturday-Feb. 2—Niobrara Valley Conference Tournament (CWC, Ewing).
