Dreamer's leads East to crown
Elmwood-Murdock transfer Wesley Dreamer led Lincoln East to an Early Bird Classic tournament title over Class B No. 3 Lincoln Pius X 75-65 Saturday at Millard West.
Dreamer racked up 27 points despite shooting 3-of-8 from the free-throw line.
"Wes has bought in to our concept 100 percent," Lincoln East coach Jeff Campbell said. "We're just trying to create open shots for our guys, and tonight, we got the ball inside and played really well in the paint."
Lincoln Pius X was led by Austin Jablonski with 24 points and Charlie Easley with 22.
The Class A No. 9 Spartans used a third-quarter run to pull away from the Thunderbolts. Lincoln East outscored Pius X 21-8 in the third quarter, and Dreamer collected 10 points in the third quarter alone.
"It was a game of runs," Campbell said. "We got ours in the third quarter and I'm happy it put us in the right position moving forward."

The Thunderbolts scored 21 in the fourth quarter, but the 15-point deficit heading into the final period was too much to overcome.
Freeman 65, Lincoln Christian 63, OT: Logan Anderson scored on a driving layup with one minute left in overtime to give Freeman the edge over Class C-1 No. 1 Christian. Tyler Adams and Trey Yates each had 16 points, and Anderson scored 13. Justin Bubak put up 30 points, including 12-of-13 from the free-throw line for Lincoln Christian.
Lincoln Southeast 58, Papillion-La Vista 47: Ajantae Hogan had 20 points for the Knights. Lincoln Southeast outscored the Monarchs 29-19 in the second half to pull away.
Lincoln North Star 75, Lincoln Northeast 46: Josiah Allick led the Navigator attack with 17 points. Husker commit Donovan Williams had 16 for the winners.
Lincoln Pius X 69, Fremont 47: Kloee Sander and Alexis Markowski combined for 50 of Lincoln Pius X's 69 points as the No. 8 Thunderbolts took first place in the Early Bird Classic tournament in Fremont. Pius X shot 28-for-42 from two-pointers in the contest and 59 percent overall from the field.
Lincoln North Star 38, Elkhorn South 36: The Navigators held the Storm to five fourth-quarter points to seal the win in a third-place game of the Early Bird Classic at Lincoln Northeast. Abigayle Krieser had 12 points for Lincoln North Star, and freshman post player Bekka Allick added nine. Lily Ziemkiewicz led Elkhorn South with eight points.
Lincoln East 71, Millard West 56: The Spartans handled No. 7 Millard West behind double-digit scoring from three players in the Early Bird Classic third-place game in Fremont. Charlotte Bovaird scored 17 points and Olivia Kugler had 15. The Wildcats led 21-13 after the first quarter, but East exploded for 22 points in te second quarter and allowed just 21 second-half points.
Lincoln Christian 48, Freeman 42: Makylee Ailes led Class C-1 No. 8 Christian with 13 points and Olivia Hollenbeck scored 10. Freeman's Addi Dorn led all scorers with 18 points.
Papillion-La Vista 61, Lincoln Southeast 28: The Monarchs did not allow double-digit scoring in any period as they downed Southeast for the I-80 Shootout title. Josey Ryan led all scorers with 28 points. Claire Strong led the Knights with nine points.
