One of the state's top overall athletes is headed to one of the nation's top FCS programs.

Omaha Skutt standout Tyson Gordon announced Monday his commitment to play football for North Dakota State.

"I always knew I wanted to be a Division I athlete, but I never knew what sport to fulfill that dream with," Gordon wrote on Twitter. "With that being said I am ecstatic to announce I am committed to play football at North Dakota State University."

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Gordon received Class B all-state honors in football and basketball, including first-team Super-State honors at defensive back in football. He had football offers from NDSU, South Dakota State, Youngstown State, Illinois State and Northern Iowa.

He also had basketball offers from Nebraska-Kearney and Wayne State.

Last fall, Gordon caught 18 passes for 351 yards, rushing for 270 yards and threw for 241 more when Skutt played him at quarterback at times. He also registered 45 tackles and averaged 20.1 yards per punt return.

Millard South DB commits to North Dakota: Millard South senior-to-be Chase Perchal announced his commitment to North Dakota on Monday.

The 5-10, 185-pound Perchal received second-team Super-State honors at defensive back last season.
