Waverly returns many key parts from last year's state quarterfinal run, including Trevor Brown up front and Cole Murray at quarterback. The strength of this team is up front. Brown anchors both lines, Wyatt Fanning is a two-year starter and Jacob Krauter, who is returning from an ACL injury, will provide an additional boost. No matter who is running behind this line, Waverly should have some offensive success.
Creating the buzz
Brown, a Super-Stater last year, is arguably the best lineman in Class B, and he's only getting better. Brown, who also is a state champion wrestler, will open holes for the offense, but he's also very disruptive on the defensive side of the ball.
Waverly must replace its 1-2 punch from a season ago in Zane Schawang (1,312 rushing yards) and Evan Canoyer (665). But the Vikings have some playmakers ready to step up, including Riley Marsh, who caught 13 passes for 259 yards as a junior.
