Young Lincoln Northeast teams have struggled over the past two seasons, with the Rockets picking up just one win over that time frame. However, they should reap the benefits from those challenges in the form of a senior-heavy team that returns 18 total starters. On defense, the entire front seven returns from last season, and there are many offensive linemen with starting experience as well.
Creating the buzz
Senior linebacker Dylan Gray is a playmaker all over the field, and he earned all-city honors last year after leading the Rockets with 90 tackles. Along with Layne Sanna, who returns as a starter in the secondary, the senior duo should make contributions on offense as well, with Gray at running back and Sanna at quarterback.
Only three offensive starters graduated, but their absence will be most notable at wide receiver, where Martrevious Gray is among the team's most experienced players with three catches a season ago. Fourteen different Rockets recorded a catch last season, but the success of their passing game may depend on whether a standout target emerges.
