Brandon Blum scored four touchdowns and Bishop Neumann got a key special-teams play en route to a a 42-28 win against host Auburn in the first round of the Class C-1 state football playoffs on Friday. Auburn fumbled on its first two possessions which Bishop Neumann converted into 12 points.
Blum had three touchdown runs in the first half, including a 43-yarder that gave the Cavaliers a 21-0 lead.
Auburn got on the board on Baily Darnell's 55-yard touchdown run with 33 seconds remaining in the first half, but Neumann struck quickly as David Lilly hauled in a 50-yard touchdown just before halftime.
Drew Dixon scored two third-quarter touchdowns to pull the Bulldogs to within 35-21, and they got the ball back. But Neumann blocked a punt and that set Blum's fourth touchdown run of the game.
Blum's first touchdown, a 55-yard run, came after the first of three Auburn turnovers. He finished with 164 rushing yards on eight carries. Teammate Eli Vedral was 9-of-11 passing for 140 yards.
Neumann will host top-ranked Pierce in the quarterfinals.
Wahoo 35, Milford 14: Trev Luben rushed for 270 yards and two touchdowns and the Warrior defense held the Eagles to 61 total yards on 33 plays in a Class C-1 first-round game. Luben scored on runs of 16 and 1 runs. Thomas Waido was 8-of-14 passing for 70 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for a score, and the Warriors racked up 454 total yards.
York 35, Alliance 14: Garrett Snodgrass threw for two touchdowns and the Dukes rushed for 314 yards in coasting to victory in Class B. Snodgrass connected with Brady Danielson for a 16-yard touchdown in the first quarter, and a 40-yard scoring strike to Wyatt Cast pushed the lead to 21-0. Jacob Diaz broke free for a 46-yard touchdown run and Tyler Bartholomew scored from nine yards out for the defending Class B state champions. York will host Seward in next week's quarterfinals.

Omaha Burke 43, Papillion-La Vista 20: In Class A, James Burks rushed for 212 yards and four touchdowns, and Tyler Chadwick completed 7-of-9 passes for 128 yards to lead the top-ranked Bulldogs.
Millard West 31, Creighton Prep 14: In Class A, Jackson Wright rushed for 139 yards on 26 carries and Tristan Gomes threw for 162 yards and two scores while running for another TD to lead the Wildcats.
Bellevue West 17, Kearney 10: Jevyon Ducker stopped the Bearcats' rally with a 5-yard touchdown run with 37 seconds remaining. Kearney rallied from a second-half 10-point deficit with a Gabe Heins 33-yard field goal and a Brayden Miller 8-yard touchdown run. Ducker finished with 210 yards rushing on 24 carries.
Grand Island 38, Omaha North 24: The Islanders scored 38 straight points including 30 in the second half to knock off the defending Class A state champions. Cole Evans rallied the Islanders with three consecutive touchdown passes to Brok Douglass, John Rielly and Carson Cahoy.
Centennial 28, North Platte SP 0: Centennial took a 7-0 lead into halftime and then scored 21 second-half points to pull away. Centennial rushed for 208 yards behind Caleb Horne, Sid Farley, and Ian Schlueter. Horne rushed for two touchdowns and Farley and Schlueter each scored one rushing touchdown.Wyatt Ehlers went 11-for-17 for 159 yards through the air and Jackson Hirschfeld caught seven passes for 114 receiving yards.
Wilber-Clatonia 47, North Bend 39: In Class C-2, Coltin Rezabek rushed for 137 yards as Wilber-Clatonia pulled away for the win. Tad Moldenhauer returned a punt 60 yards for a touchdown, giving the Wolverines a 27-26 lead in the third quarter. Mike Pulliam's touchdown pass to Hunter Cerveny extended the lead to 33-26.
Aquinas 38, Doniphan-Trumbull 14: The Monarchs scored 21 points in the final quarter to beat host Doniphan-Trumbull in Class C-2. Keegan Lavicky scored from four yards out — to make it 24-14 — before Nolan Eller returned a fumble 18 yards for another touchdown. Aquinas will host Sutton in the next round.
Sutton 22, Battle Creek 7: Brett Simonsen scored on a 70-yard run to spark the Mustangs in a Class C-2 first-round game. Jackson Perrien had a 59-yard touchdown run and Seth George hauled in a 27-yard touchdown as Sutton built a 22-0 lead.
