No. 2 Aurora (12-0) vs. No. 4 Ord (11-1), 2:45 p.m., Tuesday.

Aurora: First round—beat Arlington 61-6; quarterfinals—beat No. 10 Gothenburg 54-20; semifinals—beat Wahoo 35-10.

Ord: First round—beat Sidney 52-21; quarterfinals—beat Ashland-Greenwood 42-7; semifinals—beat No. 5 Bishop Neumann 37-0.

Two of the best in C-1 are matched up in this one. Aurora's Baylor Scheierman, a 6-foot-6 South Dakota State point guard recruit, has shown he can distribute the ball on a football field as well as he can on a basketball court. Scheierman, the C-1 state record holder for total offense in a season, threw for 3,734 yards and 55 TDs while rushing for 240 more and six scores. Ord's Jesse Ulrich is one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the state, regardless of class. He's rushed for 1,310 yards and 22 TDs and thrown for another 1,575 and 15 scores. Ulrich, a 5-11, 190-pound senior, is also a standout safety with 77 tackles, a pair of picks and a fumble recovery.

Scheierman will be throwing into one of the top pass defenses in C-1. Ord has 17 interceptions, led by five from Riley Warner and four more by Solomon Campise. The Chanticleers are giving up 131 yards per game through the air. Ord has surrendered just seven points in its last two games.

Back in the days of the Central 10 conference in the 1970s, Ord and Aurora played regularly in football. Ord is now a member of the Lou-Platte Conference and has been Class C-1 for a number of years. Aurora is in C-1 for football for the first time in this current two-year scheduling cycle, and their rivalry against Central City was resurrected this season.
