Lincoln Lutheran had all of the momentum heading into halftime after Luke Volin hit a half-court shot at the buzzer to give his team a 30-24 lead over Lincoln Christian, but the Crusaders shifted the tide in the third quarter.
Class C-1 No. 6 Christian (17-8) pulled out a 59-50 win in Wednesday's Class C1-3 subdistrict at Weeping Water after outscoring the Warriors 20-4 in the third quarter. Caleb Canfield hit a pair of three-pointers in the period, and Justin Bubak scored eight of his game-high 21 points in that stretch as well. Canfield finished with 17 points, including four three-pointers.
Joshua Puelz and Isaac McCoy each scored 13 points for Lincoln Lutheran (13-9).
Christian will face No. 10 Ashland-Greenwood in Thursday's subdistrict final after the Bluejays defeated Conestoga 65-55 in the other semifinal.
C1-2 at Norris: Milford breezed past Raymond Central 69-22 after leading 46-15 at halftime. Nate Mensik led the Eagles with 21 points, and Seth Stutzman added 12. Dylan Thornburg had eight points for Raymond Central.
The Eagles will play Malcolm, which beat Fairbury 52-38 behind 17 points from Noah Twohig and 15 from Dylan Johnson.
Central Valley player sets state record: Central Valley’s Damyn Rother broke the single-game boys state record by hitting 14 three-point baskets, scoring 42 points to lead the Cougars to a 97-45 win over Spalding Academy in the D2-6 subdistrict basketball tournament at Boone Central on Tuesday night.
Central Valley finished with 21 three-pointers as a team, one short of the state mark.
